Second Grade Teacher

"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." Colossians 2:7

I grew up living across the Great Plains of America, spending most of my life along the Front Range of the Rockies in Colorado. My parents were dedicated to providing a Lutheran school education for their children. My mother taught in Lutheran schools on the Apache reservation in Arizona, and she inspired me to follow her footsteps to teach children to know Jesus, to learn, and to serve Jesus with their lives.

I attended Martin Luther Academy and Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN for high school and college. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Martin Luther College. I taught for 6 years in the Midwest, and then accepted a Lutheran school teaching position in Dallas, TX where I have taught for over 30 years. I completed my Master’s Degree at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. I have a choral directing certification from Choristers Guild and have been blessed to lead many school choirs. Over the years, I have taught from first grade to sixth grade in Lutheran schools. In addition, I served as an adjunct professor of Writing at Dallas College for over 20 years.

To know Jesus! This is the greatest focus of our lives. Itis my goal and prayer for the children in my classroom to know Jesus and His great love for them. To learn! It is my goal and prayer for the children in my classroom to learn and grow, preparing them to serve God and their neighbors in this world with their various talents and abilities. To inspire and persevere! It is my goal and prayer for the children in my classroom to experience the joy of learning, but also the grit and determination needed to work through struggles and second chances in learning.

Outside of the classroom, I treasure the time spent with my family and my church family. I love to spend time out in nature, God’s creation, tending my yard and garden, and visiting the arboretum, or God’s imagination, visiting Dallas art museums and musical concerts, or God’s providence, studying and reading about history.
