About Zion

We consider our school a mission and aim to serve in our community. Our students hold an annual food drive each Fall, sing at nursing homes and NorthPark each Christmas, send Valentines to Veterans, and host an annual carnival each spring for the community. Our intention is that our students learn to show Jesus' love by service to others.

HISTORY

mission

accreditation

Zion Lutheran School admits students of any race, color, ethnic background or national origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. Furthermore, it does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnic background, or national origin on administration of its educational policies, employment practices, or other school-administered programs.

Our Curriculum

Zion's curriculum adheres to TEKS standards and enhances those standards, preparing your child year by year for their next steps in education. Our teachers strive to challenge each child by creating unique learning experiences for our students through projects and activities.

Early Childhood

Zion’s Early Childhood Program provides a nurturing, hands-on environment intended to foster healthy development in all aspects of growth, including the spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and intellectual domains. The Early Childhood Program is based on age-appropriate learning activities in conjunction with the individual needs of each child.
Since developmental play is the primary vehicle for learning in young children, child-initiated, child-directed, and teacher–supported play is the focus in our early childhood program.  Children are encouraged to actively explore their environment and interact with adults, peers, and materials.  Parents are encouraged and invited to participate in their children’s education, so as to provide a sense of consistency and security for their children, as well as to build open bridges of communication between families and teachers.

Above all, Zion’s Early Childhood Program provides an environment for all children to see themselves as redeemed children of God, expressing their joy in new life in Christ.

The curriculum includes the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) as prescribed by the Texas Education Agency "Standards of a Well-Balanced Curriculum" and "Integrating the Faith" as presented by the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. In addition to our quality academics, our students learn to use technology, participate in Physical Education, express themselves through creative art, learn to speak Spanish, and sing in classroom choirs that occasionally perform throughout the school year. Zion offers interscholastic sports teams beginning in the 5th Grade.

Elementary

The Elementary program at Zion continues our educational excellence started in the Early Childhood program. Kindergarten through Grade 5 utilizes a self-contained classroom concept. Homeroom teachers instruct the core subjects such as Math, Science, Language Arts, Religion, and Social Studies. Specialized teachers instruct our Spanish, computer, music, and Physical Education classes. Zion’s Elementary curriculum meets and exceeds the requirements of the state. We develop good  habits and provide Christian life experience.

Middle School

The Middle School at Zion exists to complete our school’s mission of educational excellence. The Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth grades are departmentalized, rotate through various classrooms and teachers, and have their own lockers. All this is in preparation for success in high school. Zion graduates are highly desired by Dallas area high schools and have built a reputation for being solid, well-rounded students who do well in AP, IB, or Honors classes.
In addition to a challenging academic curriculum that includes Algebra I for all eighth graders, our middle school offers music, drama, art, and Spanish instruction. Our students are introduced to a variety of content areas using technology, such as graphic design, audio creation, 3D modeling, and programming. A full range of sports are available, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and track. Zion Middle School provides the nurturing Christian environment that produces successful individuals in high school and beyond.

Family Involvement

Our loving and caring environment for our students is blessed to have the support and encouragement of active and enthusiastic school families.

Parent Teacher League

Zion has a vibrant and enthusiastic PTL that organizes a variety of events throughout the school year. An active "Moms Group" and "Dads Club" get together several times each year for social activities and planning. Other events such as picnics, Pinewood Derby, and Spring Carnival foster community and fellowship among the school family.

Library

Zion's school library is operated and maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers that keep the library in order, help students select books, and make each student's trip to the library a special one.

Booster Club

Zion Lutheran Booster Club supports our athletic teams and programs. They support and cheer for Zion's athletics teams at games. They also organize fundraising events  for gym maintenance, team uniforms, and new athletic and playground equipment.

Zion Lutheran School is supported and blessed in a variety of ways. Zion Lutheran Church is committed to the mission of the school, providing substantial financial support annually to make our tuition more affordable than other area private schools. Our school families help improve our campus and strengthen our family environment in many ways - through volunteering to serve, sharing their skills and expertise, or generously contributing financially beyond the cost of their tuition. This investment and support from our community allows us to continue to

share the love of

Jesus

each and every day with our students and their families. If you'd like to learn more about how you can support the mission of Zion Lutheran School, click the link below.
