I was born and raised in San Diego, California and moved to Lubbock, Texas during my high school years. Adjusting from San Diego to Texas was a challenge, but eventually, I found my place and attended Texas Christian University for my college education. I met my husband, Isaac, while in Fort Worth. After completing college, I settled down in Dallas, where I've been ever since, raising our two wonderful children, Lottie and West. My family holds immense importance in my life, and I consider myself incredibly blessed for the gifts that God has bestowed upon me.
Professionally, my journey led me to the world of education. I started my education career teaching junior high Texas History and Science. After a couple of years, I transitioned to elementary education, teaching various grades including first grade, kindergarten, and pre-k4 for several years. I dedicated 15 years of my career to Dallas Independent School District before I found my way to Zion, where I believe I am meant to be.
As an elementary teacher, I see my role as more than just imparting knowledge; it's about nurturing and fostering the spirit of lifelong learning in my students. I achieve this through interactive activities, engaging classroom discussions, and a sprinkle of humor, all aimed at sparking their creativity and exploring their natural curiosity. I want my students to know that no question is too trivial or silly to ask; learning is a journey where every inquiry matters.
Beyond academics, my primary goal is to instill in my students the understanding that they are unique blessings, creations of God, capable of forging a personal connection with Jesus. Recognizing that each student possesses distinct gifts and challenges, I believe it's crucial for a Christian teacher to support their individual academic, cognitive, social, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Every subject and aspect of their education should be viewed through a Biblical lens, emphasizing the integration of a strong faith foundation into their learning experiences.
