Reading Interventionist

"For we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7

I grew up in the Texas Panhandle in Lubbock Tx. Most of my family are educators and Texas Tech fans. I met my husband while he was attending Texas Tech Law School. We moved to Dallas soon after we married. We have a son who followed in his father's footsteps and became an attorney. We also have a daughter who followed in mine and became a Regional Assessment Coordinator. Through my husband's family, our children are 4th generation Zion Lutheran Church members.

I enjoy spending my spare time helping at the church, reading, movies, and going to the beach.  Life is a blessing and an adventure which I remind myself daily.

I have been teaching and tutoring for over 25 years. I have a B.S. in Education from Texas Tech University and I am certified to teach reading 1st-12thgrade. I also worked on my master's at North Texas University in Education Administration. Down through the years I have taught a variety of ages to become better readers. I started teaching 6th-12th Honors and Title 1 Reading/English.  Later, I taught ESL at a private school and Richland College.  After my children went away to college, I decided to tutor younger children. This drew me to becoming Plano Reading Ranch's Reading Interventionist manager. I enjoyed it so much that I leaped at the chance to lead a similar program at Zion.   I love learning and teaching new ways for my students to become better readers at any age.
